The Maundy Thursday offering for last year and this year was sent to the Priority for the Homeless, a Presbyterian extra commitment offering. The Good Friday offering went to another extra commitment offering for Hunger and Human Development in Africa. This was our joint Liturgy of the Cross worship service with St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Money was sent to Presbyterian relief for India earthquakes and the El Salvador earthquake as well as to Food for the Hungry of the Queens Federation of Churches. Of the 2001 budget allocations $300 was sent to the Alberta L. Alston House in Corona for their social services program. The 150-unit building is sponsored by Presbyterian Senior Services and the pastor is on the board. Money was also sent to the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies for their Welfare Reform Network, and to support the Queens Federation of Churches. Over $14,000 has been sent out so far this year. These amounts are "Your Mission Contributions at Work". |
