Jeff Courter, Interim Pastor
David has been in the choir and a member of our church since Fall 1993, and has served on both the Board of Deacons and the Session. He continues to be the liaison and Chair of the Forest Hills Presbyterian Day School, a position he has held since 1994, and is an active member of the church. In October 2015, he joined our staff as Administrative Assistant, and enjoys the challenges of everyday church life and continues to look forward to the continuing changes we experience in our diverse congregation, as well as moving forward to new visions for our future.
David Yurick, Organist
David J. Yurick has been Choirmaster and Organist since 1974. He has been called "a fine musician and knows how to get the best responses not only from the choir but from the congregation."
David is originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he studied with Ludwig Lenel at Muhlenberg College. He moved to New York City to complete a Masters Degree in composition and studied at Queens College with Henry Weinberg, George Perle and Leo Kraft. He has also appeared as a solo concert pianist in Ghent, Belgium with the Jandora Opera Festival.
We are blessed to have him, and we look forward to what he will be able offer on our new Rodgers organ!

Rev. Jeff Courter is a second-career minister, coming to First Presbyterian Church of Forest Hills after a position as pastor in Westernville, NY, right in the middle of the state.
Prior to Westernville, Jeff lived in Chicago and the south suburbs, so he knows how to navigate the city. In Chicago, he attended McCormick Seminary. Prior to seminary, Jeff worked as a recruiter for the Illinois Army National Guard, after being deployed to Afghanistan for a year in 2007.
Jeff served the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights, IL as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder, chairing the Stewardship Committee, Evangelism Committee, and Christian Education Committee over the almost two decades he and his family attended there. He created an adult education program for the summer which was popular, teaching church history, Christianity and world religions, and other topics.
Jeff comes to Forest Hills with a broad experience in ministry – from being on the Committee on Ministry for the Presbytery of Utica, to being a commissioner on the Synod of the Northeast (Networking Group), as a member of the Rome, NY Clergy Association, and moderator of InterFaith Matters of Utica, Jeff has been involved in the community. He has also worked with youth: he started a Youth Group at the town library, he has been teaching Sunday school, and has led field trips with junior and senior high school students.
